Rudolph Wegener, is a disillusioned high-ranking Nazi official who trades secrets with Tagomi. Not much is know of Wegener's life before joining the Nazi Party, except that he was born in Berlin before the Nazis "remodeled" the entire capital.

Early LifeEdit

Apparently in origin Rudolph Weger believed in the Nazis' ideology and participated actively during World War II in the Nazi war effort. It's not clear what his exact role was. Wegener may have participated in the "cleaning operations" (genocide) in the territories occupied by the Nazis during the war, even in America, where he bonded a sincere friendship with local American-Nazis collaborator, at the time, John Smith, who later on would become an Obergruppenführer in the American-Nazi SS.

However, the psychological toll of the atrocities that Wegener took part in eventually disillusioned him from the Nazi ideologies and ashamed of his role in the Nazis victory. Wegener, in particular, became disgusted of the radical totalitarian transformation that the Nazi party did in Germany and in the rest of the Reich, especially in Berlin. In trying to atone for his sins, Wegener decided to help Tagomi in his plan to allow the Japanese Empire to develop its nuclear program, to use as a final deterrent against a Nazis attack against the Japanese Empire, even if he knew from the beginning that it would be a suicide mission. Wegener knew he would likely face reprisal by the Nazis authority once his goal was completed, including execution.

Season OneEdit

During the course of the series, in Tagomi's original plan, Wegener, who would act as a Swedish businessmen, would have met the Director of Japanese Scientific Research and given to him a microfilm, which contain the indispensable informations to build the Heisenberg Device (that Wegener previously manage to steal from his Nazi work office) during the Crown Prince's speech at San Francisco. However their plans were jeopardized by the assassination attempt on the Crown Prince, which made further attempts to complete the mission too risky in Tagomi's view. However Tagomi and Wegener had a stroke of luck when they found out that the Japanese Scientific Director had an appointment in the hall of same hotel where Wegener resided, allowing Wegener to complete his mission, at the place to be seen from one of his former Nazis associates. As result, his presence became known to the Nazi intelligence officer and, during an airline stop at New York in his return flight to Berlin, Wegener was deceived by John Smith to accept a party invitation for VA Day (Victory in America Day) with Smith's family and Joe Blake, who later handed Wegener over to the SS. However, to Wegeners' surprise, the SS didn't torture him but, let him meet Reinhard Heydrich. Heydrich planned to use Wegener as a tool in his planned coup d'etat against Adolf Hitler, forcing him to assassinate Hitler, menacing Wegener's family if he refused. Reluctant, Wegener ultimately accept Heydrich's offer and return to Berlin, to give his family one last farewell, before Wegener's attempt to Hitler life. To his astonishment, Hitler revealed that he already knew of Heydrich's plans and he is not scared at all of Wegener. Hitler knew too well that Wegener was sick of killing and that his death would result in bringing to power the same people who want to wage war against the Japanese Empire, which would mean that Wegener's actions will cause millions of death. Hitler gave to Wegener the choice to commit suicide in exchange of Hitler extending protection to Wegener's family and name.

In the end, while Hitler received news of Heydrich's capture by the hands of John Smith, Wegener shoots himself in the head.
