  • It’s just scratching at my OCD brain... on the main page in the general synopsis it says, “Word War” instead of, “World War”

  • Hi !

I'm a french fan of The Man in The High Castle and admin of the french wiki since few months. Are you interested in a kind of partenership between the english and french versions (with the link of each one as traduction of the other) ? I have an other question : are you okay if i traduce some of your articles in the french wiki with a link to the article in the english wiki ?

    Thank you

Link to the French wiki The Man in the High Castle

    • Hey there,

I wasn't aware of the french wiki, but sure, you can link the wiki with this one. Thanks for approaching me first.

        Loading editor
    • Cool thank you.

There is just a very few people who know there is a french wiki. I try to make it known and devlop it of course.

I have made the demand to link both.

  • Probably a full community discussion should happen over this, but any ideas how we should go about with content regarding alternate versions of characters? Just a simple section on the main page, or do some characters get their own page, as season 4 might explore more in depth of alternate characters. The only problem I guess is the way we would name such pages as there isn't really a definitive way we could name the universes like for other wikis when parallel universes are named.

    • I've been thinking about this since last season. I contributed to another wiki a few years back which involved the same sort of concept, though we just added an additional section for alternate version.

I'd say for now it would probably be best to have the main article focus on the first version of a character we were introduced to, and put information on alternate versions in a section on that article (further divided into subsections if there are more than one). If things start to get more complicated in the later seasons, we should probably revisit this.

  • Hey, just a suggestion but perhaps you should get staff to get the urk maninthehighcastle.wikia.com to redirect here as well as themaninthehighcastle.wikia.com

      Loading editor
    • That's a great suggestion. I just contacted someone about it, and we'll see what can be done.

    • No problem. From my past experiences around wiki editing, found it can help those familiar with wikia find the wiki better rather than searching through Google and also reduce people making duplicate wikis.

    • Agreed. I spoke to someone about this and they said they would try and do that for me. I also suggested we change the URL itself with the dashes removed. I'll let you know what ends up happening when he gets back to me again.

  • Hi Hathomirr!

My name is Chen, I'm with the Community team at FANDOM.

Over the last year, we’ve been working on a brand new TV Community Builder. We’ve identified your Wiki as one of the best candidates to move to the new platform because it already has a great structure for characters, cast, seasons and episodes. We designed the TV Community Builder from the start with TV shows in mind to mirror that same structure.

While the new Builder is still early in its life, we would be thrilled to have you as a key test community to help us learn what works, what doesn’t, and what feedback we need to know moving forward! Would you be interested in giving some feedback and participating in helping figure out what features we should create for the TV Community Builder?

Here are some of the reasons we’re excited about the new experience:

    • Mobile capabilities: This new builder is designed to work across all devices - making it easy to create and view pages on desktops and phones with no extra work required from editors. Over the years, more and more people are switching to browsing the internet on their phones and FANDOM is no different. We are invested in making it a better experience and allow fans to edit as easily from their phones as their desktops.
    • Structured data: Structured data is a way of organizing all of the data on a website so you can present information in more powerful ways. Not only can you display content in ways that helps people find what pages they should read next, but it can even make editing easier - imagine if you could update a single character page, and that data would be added to all other relevant pages automatically. By removing the reliance on wikitext, editing becomes a simpler experience and content becomes easier to find.

You can see this new platform in action on Yellowstone wiki right now - please check it out!

If your wiki uses the new Community Builder, what we would do is migrate all of the articles here over to a new domain and temporarily maintain both while we go through and clean up some of the information. It won’t all be perfect so there will be some work to do to get everything set on the TV Community Builder before we switch over the domain. We are happy to help with a lot of the heavy lifting there.

We’d love to do this in the next week or two to make sure this wiki is ready for Season 3.

Looking forward to hearing what you think!

    • Hey again, sorry I left you hanging there. I also apologize for the fact that my response won't be the one you were hoping to hear.

While I understand this project is in the best interest of compatibility between platforms, I can't help but feel I've wasted my time here putting in the work to help design this wiki (among others) only for most of it to be phased out in the new design. I'm not sure if I'll be able to give any more meaningful suggestions in testing beyond what I've already given, and I think I'd just be wasting your time at that point.

I apologize again if that came off as harsh. My frustrations aren't directed towards you personally, and I do thank you for reaching out, even if it was only as a formality.

(if you have anything else to say that you think could potentially change my mind, however, I'm still open to listening)

    • No problem at all! We are willing to let you try it once we add more features to TV builder. Please keep in touch! :)

  • Hi, I'm Mike with the Community Development Team on Fandom! Congratulations on successfully adopting the Wiki! I can see you've already made some great design changes to the Main Page already. We were wondering if you would like some help with the Main Page, such as resizing the character gallery, adding some videos to the main page, and enabling Discussions. Let me know if you're interested!

    • Hey there, and thanks for your contributions so far. Just a couple of things I should let you know before you continue.

As far as image uploading goes, you need to make sure your images are clear and in focus. I had to delete a few of yours because they were either blurred or too dark (a couple had red lines on the sides of them as well). Also, you should also try to avoid uploading multiple images of the same scene, one or two is sufficient. Thank you for properly labeling the images though, not many users do that.

Try not to cram too much information in the infoboxes that might be better displayed in the article body. And on a related note, despite this story being an alternate history of WWII, the focus should still be on the story itself. We don't need several paragraphs of information that happened outside the show, especially since some of it may be inaccurate for this fictional timeline. Any historical character that appears on here should only have information related to the shows story itself, otherwise it can just be briefly mentioned in the "Notes & Trivia" section or a wikipedia link can be provided.

Lastly, your soundcloud links aren't functioning properly, and having music set to autoplay on here (or anywhere) is generally a bad idea. A video link to the music would be a good alternative.

If you're curious about some of the wikis guidelines, check out the Policies page (still a work in progress, but sufficient for now).

      Thanks again.

  • Hi. I’ve given you admin and bureaucrat rights on this community as you requested. You now have the tools you need to clean up, customize and maintain the wiki.

Check out your Admin Dashboard, which can by found by clicking "Admin" on the bottom toolbar -- it has links to all your new tools. Please let me know if you have any questions, and good luck with your new (old) wiki!
